UNICAL Appoints New Bursar, Dean, Faculty of Science

The Dean: Faculty Of Scienc, Prof. Joe Asor has been elected the new Dean, Faculty of Science University of Calabar.

The former, Dean Students Affairs Division who until his appointment he was Head, Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology took over from Prof. Ani Nkang who successfully completed his term tenure in office

He has held various positions such as Rector, Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture (now Cross River University of Technology Obubra Campus) from 1999 to 2002 and member, Implementation Committee for the merger of Tertiary Institution in Cross River State in (2002).

Prof. Joe Asor also served as a member, Cross River State Book writing and Review Committee, Member, Cross River State Community and Social Development Agency and member Governing Council, Cross River State College of Education , Akamkpa.
He is happily married with children.

BURSAR:
The University of Calabar’s Governing Council has approved the appointment of Mr. Peter Amama Agi as the substantive Bursar of the Institution following the expiration of the tenure of the erstwhile Bursar Mr. Obot Monday Nseobot

Until his recent appointment, Mr. Agi was a Chief Accountant with the University and hails from Yala Local Government Area in Cross River State.

He has a B.Sc (honours) in Accounting from the University of Calabar, obtained in 1998 and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2006 from the University of Lagos.
Mr. Peter Agi who became an Associate Chartered Accountant with ICAN in 2005, is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

He has garnered experience on the job as an Accountant right from his NYSC days where he served as an Accounts Clerk with the Central Bank of Nigeria. Between 2000–2003, he worked with All States Trust Bank as a Branch Operations Staff/Reconciliation Officer and then in the Compliance/Management Information Unit/Financial Department.

He joined Council PLC as an Accounts payable Accountant in 2003 and rose to become Regional Accountant of the foremost oil company in 2007.

The In-demand Accountant could not resist the allure for fresh challenges and greater responsibilities and so in September 2007, he was engaged by Heights Access Nigeria Ltd as the Financial Manager.

The new University of Calabar Bursar’s burning desire is to strike a sense of balance between the vision and mission of the University and his aspiration

Peter Amama Agi, a devout Christian is happily married with children.
