I believe you heard me clearly. JAMB JAMB is not a fail or pass exam. Meaning that you can still get admission no matter your score.

According to JAMB boss, there are other things to consider in the admission process aside from your jamb result.

What does this mean? The fact is that there are other variables that are considered outside the examination to arrive at a successful admission.

JAMB is not a fail or pass exam - You can still get admission no matter your score

These variables are:

1. Your O’Level results:

In this year’s admission, your nature of your SSCE result will be considered. This means that if you have good grade, like many A’s in your results, you may stand a better chance of gaining admision. These grades are factored in points which is use to calculate the final admission cut off point.

2. Your Course / Institution competition:

This is very important. For instance, if you chose Medicine and Surgery as your most preferred course in a very competitive Universities like the University of Benin, University of Ilorin or Obafemi Awolowo University, you are expected to score at least 270 in jamb to get admission. But this is not a rule, you can still get admission depending on your O’level results and the performance of other candidates who chose your course and institution.

3. JAMB result performance statistics:

Like I explained in the second point above, jamb result statistic for your school is very important. If candidates who chose same course and school with you had high score, the school will increase the admission cut off mark to avoid exceeding the admission quota for that course. Other candidates who do not meet this admission cut off point may have the chance to change their course to a low competitive course or change and institution.
