How Many Questions Do You Need to Answer to Pass JAMB CBT? I got this question from one of our commenters and I have decided to answer it in the form of post so that it will benefit every other users of this website – myPastQuestion.com. This is a very tricky question but we can get glimpse of the possible answer with the help of JAMB Marking Scheme.
Let’s Try to Answer it…
The total number of JAMB questions are 250 questions for a total of 400 marks. Let’s believe you need about 100 points from each subject – Use of English and 3 other relevant subjects – to score all the points 400/400. You might have been a robot to have this score.
How Many Questions Do You Need to Answer Correctly to Pass JAMB CBT?
It depends on what you call a high score. For me, high score in JAMB CBT is anything from 250 and above. You can see it’s very simple to have 250+ in JAMB. Just have above 60/100 from all the subjects and you are hitting 250 and above.
It also depends on your course, while some course may not need a very high JAMB score to secure admission, some other courses give most candidates a mountain to climb. Such course are Medicine and Surgery, Law, Pharmacy, Engineering and so on…. It all depends on the competition for these causes. Imagine over 15,000 candidates registering for Medicine and Surgery for a University that have only 60-student NMA accreditation admission slot. This will be massive competition and only those whose score are exceptionally high will be admitted.
Again, it depends on your school. While most schools need higher cut off mark to gain admission (like OAU Ife, UNIBEN, UI, ABU Zaria), some other school have a considerable (low) admission admission cut off mark (like UNIUYO, UNIABUJA, UNIPORT etc).
So for me, I would advice all candidates to strive harder to score anything above 250. This score will give you an edge ahead to post UTME examination. Remember, many school adopt the process of finding average between JAMB CBt Score and Post UTME score for admission formalities.
