FG Plans to Gives Priority to Education – UBEC Boss

Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Dr. Dikko Sulieman has said that the present administration under the leadership of the President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan gives serious attention to basic education.

The Executive Secretary made this known while inspecting some projects at the Government Girls Junior Secondary School (GGJSS) in Shema, Dutsin-ma LGA and Government Girls Junior Secondary School (GGJSS) Dutsin-Safe in Kaita LGA in Katsina State.

He said the establishment of Tsangaya Schools in the North has seriously improved the life style of the Northern Children.

He said ” President Jonathan established Almajiri Schools for our Children”

According to him the Tsangaya model Schools among other things will ensure the integration of the elements of basic education into the Qur’anic Schools system, pupils with knowledge and skills, which will enable them to integrate into the UBE Programme.

Commenting on Boy Child Education, the Executive Secretary said the programme is aimed at integrating the out of School boys in the south-East and South-South Geo- Political Zone into the UBE Programme.

He said the Jonathan Administration also established Girls’ only School across designated state with high prevalence of girls as a best practice allaying the fears of parents who may, for obvious reasons prevent them from going to school.
